Touch of Evil is an American crime film from 1958. It is assigned to the film noir genre. The film was directed by Orson Welles, who also wrote the screenplay based on the crime novel Badge of Evil by Whit Masterson (a pseudonym of the authors Robert Wade and Bill Miller).

Los Robles is a small town on the Mexican-American border where money is made through brothels and drugs. Shortly after crossing the then almost unguarded border from Mexico into the United States, a car is blown up by a bomb in front of the eyes of Mexican narcotics investigator Miguel Vargas and his newly married wife Susan.
