Citizen Kane (English for "Citizen Kane") is an American film directed by Orson Welles from 1941. The plot of the black-and-white film produced by RKO describes in flashbacks the life of the fictional media tycoon Charles Foster Kane, as his role model the American Publisher William Randolph Hearst served. The film was a flop when it was first released and was heavily criticized. Today it is considered a milestone in cinema history and one of the most innovative and important films ever produced.

As a millionaire, Citizen Kane ruled over countless newspapers and radio stations for decades. However, his success is also what turns him into a corrupt and power-hungry person over time. Abandoned by all his friends, he ends up in complete loneliness in his mysterious estate Xanadu. "Rosebud" is the last word on his lips before he dies. A journalist follows the trail of this mystery and uncovers a fascinating life during his research.
